Frequently Asked Questions
Can I come to just one retreat?
Yes, each retreat is self-contained. A variety of retreats on different themes provides the opportunity to get the
hang of being quiet. Most people grow in their ability to enter into the restorative power of quiet each time they go on a
retreat and are finding On the Way Retreats helpful as an on-going practice.
Do I have to stay for the whole weekend?
Yes. It's better to wait for another time rather
than shorten the retreat. It takes quite a while to unwind and for your thoughts to stop spinning around in your head.
Is this mostly for quiet people?
No. It is often even more
helpful for extroverts. These retreats have been beneficial to a wide variety of personality types and age groups.
Is this best suited for spiritual, contemplative type people?
No. If you have an interest in growing spiritually, a retreat is for you. All those who are open to nurturing their faith
in order to become more balanced and grounded people are suited for this experience. This time is meant to center and empower
participants for mission.
What about helping the poor rather
than always thinking of ourselves?
This time apart is seen as a means to equip participants for greater ministry
in the world. As a symbol of that intention, an offering for world hunger is received at the Service of Holy Communion which
concludes the retreat.
I work weekends, how can I come on
retreat?
Weekday retreats from Sunday evening to Tuesday are offered each year.
